About Mark DeMontis
Accessibility Leader | Speaker | Strategist
Mark DeMontis is a leading accessibility speaker and strategist with over 20 years experience working in non-profit to television hosting, serving as a senior advisor to the Government of Ontario, and now to consulting with top brands in both the public and private sectors.
A Journey of Courage
At just 17, Mark’s life took an unexpected turn when sudden sight loss ended his NHL dreams. Rather than letting it define him, he rewrote his future—founding Canadian Blind Hockey and inline skating across Canada twice, raising funds to support thousands of people who are blind and partially sighted.

A Trusted Expert in Accessibility & Inclusion
As the Chief Accessibility Officer at The Substance Group, he helps organizations and businesses:
• Conduct Accessibility Audits – Ensuring compliance with AODA, Accessible Canada Act (ACA), Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) for U.S.-based clients and WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards.
• Develop Inclusive Marketing Strategies – Helping brands reach disability consumer audiences.
• Provide Accessibility Training – Educating teams on inclusive content, customer service and workplace
culture.
Beyond Compliance: Driving Business Growth
Mark believes accessibility isn’t just a requirement—it’s a business advantage. Organizations that embrace inclusivity increase customer engagement, brand loyalty, and market reach. His work helps clients unlock new revenue opportunities while making a real impact.
